MT Bohiemia, MI (Days 1-2)

Day 1: We arrived at Mt. Bohemia in the afternoon after about 3 or 4 hours of driving (from Ironwood, MI). We set up the Snow Trekker tent at the bottom of the ski hill (ski in/ski out lodging!!), played some cards, and made dinner. Then we headed to Bear Belly Bar in Lac La Belle to watch the Vikings game and enjoy some local brews. Mike finished watching the game in the Commons at Mt. Bohemia while Melissa slept through the excitement.

Day 2: We woke up to a sunny, windless day... a great day for snowboarding! Mt. Bohemia's ungroomed trails and tree runs were decent, but the rain over Christmas made it a bit icy. All in all, it was a great day of Midwest snowboarding.

Melissa was handling the trees quite well and Mike was pulling off his best move - 180's in the trees, looking like a pro until he took out a 2" pine and broke it into two pieces, thankfully it was dead.

December 26th Snow Kite Session

Great snowkite session on Big Macdonald Lake!

I had a great session at my parents lake, winds 18-24 with new snow of 8". The snow was in pretty good condition, but a little crusty. Made a couple of sweet jumps, but the low light conditions made them tough to see, so I used some orange construction spraypaint to out line the jumps and layout a runway to line myself up for the jumps, that worked awsome.
It felt good to get the first good snowkiting session under my belt.
